Computer freezes while reading CD-ROM due to loose CD-ROM drive data cable.
Cause:
The CD-ROM drive data cable is loose.
Solution:
Securely connect data cable to CD-ROM drive unit and the computer. Restart Windows 95, open Windows Explorer, and run a file from the CD-ROM.
1) Make sure the data cable of the external CD-ROM drive is securely connected to the drive unit and to the adapter port on the computer.
2) Restart Windows 95.
3) Open 'Windows Explorer', and click on CD-ROM icon in the left-hand side of the Explorer window. (The contents of the CD-ROM are displayed in the right-hand side of the Explorer window.)
4) Double-click on an executable file.
